On behalf of the MEMIN research group we would like to invite you to participate in the MEMIN Impact Cratering Workshop on the 28th and 29th of September in Freiburg, Germany.
The MEMIN research group (Multidisciplinary Experimental and Modeling Impact Research Network), founded in 2009 as a delocalized research unit of the German Research Foundation (DFG), is focused on impact cratering experiments into geological materials to further our knowledge of the dynamics of impact cratering, to validate numerical models, and to understand petrophysical properties of impact damaged rocks. MEMIN’s novel approach is based on a multidisciplinary collaboration of geoscientists, physicists, numerical modelers and engineers from seven institutions in Germany and the US.
The main objective of this workshop is to bring together scientists from different fields of expertise to discuss topics related to experimental impact cratering. Ideas and results will presented by invited speakers, and contributions of guests and MEMIN researchers will be given in oral and poster format.
This meeting is also intended to inspire new projects and open possibilities for future, international collaboration between the workshop participants and MEMIN researchers in the upcoming 2nd phase of the MEMIN research group.
The workshop program can be downloaded as a PDF file here.
